26 March 2013, Davao City, Philippines. SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation (SMHCC), a subsidiary of SM Investments Corporation, announced that it has opened Park Inn by Radisson Davao, the first “next generation” mid-scale Park Inn by Radisson hotel brand to be established in Asia Pacific.
The grand launch of Park Inn on March 22, 2013 was graced by no less than Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group (Asia Pacific) President Simon Barlow and Executive Vice President for Revenue Generation Lucinda Semark, Department of Tourism Regional Director Art Boncato, Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre, City Investment and Tourism officer Jason Magnaye, and other local VIP’s.
Guests came in shades of red, blue, green, and yellow —- colors that are identified with the Park Inn by Radisson brand. They were welcomed by colorful men on stilts, tribal dancers, jugglers and living statues in colored suits. Aside from the ribbon cutting ceremony and speech by Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo, one of the main highlights of the evening was the formal introduction of Georgina Wilson as the official endorser of Park Inn by Radisson Davao. Guest musical artist Christian Bautista sang a mash up version of “Colors Everywhere,” which was fitting for the night’s theme, Adding Color to Life. Buffet stations at RBG (Restaurant, Bar & Grill), the hotel’s spacious dining outlet, showcased hearty dishes, local favorites, grilled meats and seafood. Right in the middle of dinner, the ladies of RBG sang a medley in flash-mob style, which was then awarded with loud applause from the audience.
The 204-room Park Inn by Radisson Davao is the second in the Philippines managed by one of the world’s largest hotel chains, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, after Radisson Blu in Cebu.
The hotel is also conveniently situated beside the SM Lanang Premier Mall and the SMX Convention Center in Davao.
