(13 March 2014, Pasay City, Philippines) SM Cares, a division of SM Foundation Inc. kicked off Women’s Month as it welcomed world renowned motivational speaker and Filipino American, Jessica Cox on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Skydome of SM City North EDSA. This is one of the numerous activities SM has lined up for Women’s Month.
Cox also recently visited areas devastated by typhoon Yolanda including her mother’s town in Bobon, Samar to help raise funds and deliver a message of hope.
Cox was born with no arms. Born to a family of three children, Jessica the middle child dreamt of being independent, self-sufficient and believed in her heart that nothing was impossible with God. She earned a black-belt in Taekwondo at 10, got her driver’s licence at around 16, learned to surf and eventually fly a plane. Cox is the Guinness Record Holder for being the first woman to fly an airplane with her feet.
Convinced that the way we think has a greater impact on our lives than our physical constraints, Cox pursued a degree in psychology at the University of Arizona. Since then she has traveled to 20 countries sharing her inspirational message that nothing is impossible when you think outside of the shoe.
